Experience
C. Demosthenes Armeniades ("Demos") is a New York attorney whose international practice has spanned arbitration, private equity, cross-border transactions, energy and government advisory work in the United States, Europe and emerging markets.
A graduate of Harvard Law School, Demos began his career with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York before joining Shearman & Sterling in Paris. He subsequently founded an international practice with offices in Paris and Moscow.
Demos' arbitration experience includes matters under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and UNCITRAL, as well as ad hoc proceedings. He has also lectured on alternative dispute resolution, joint ventures and international contractual matters, including at ICC programs in Paris.
His subsequent work in private equity and international business placed Demos on the commercial side of complex cross-border investments and disputes—structuring transactions, assessing risk, negotiating solutions and resolving problems before they became litigation.
That combination of disputes experience and commercial decision-making informs his approach as an arbitrator: independent, pragmatic and focused on the commercial realities underlying the dispute.
